Company alignment

Teams are remote, career has become 24/7, and everyone is working at their own pace. More than ever, alignment within an organization is really hard, ESPECIALLY, when each department has various incentives and scorecards. How do you know the exec leader sitting across from you, who is on your team, and whom you have worked with for years…shares the same definition of winning as you?

How do you know they are motivated by the same purpose & vision?

What about your own personal alignment? Is your mind, body & spirit aligned? If not, it will be near impossible to achieve your dreams & life goals.

Today we’re talking about the Salesforce-developed V2MOM framework.

Alignment is the ability to agree (or disagree amicably) and work towards a common goal/greater good whether in at your company, or even for yourself.

The V2MOM is an exercise that is meant to be done with everyone in your organization and specifically with leadership. - I was fortunate enough to be apart of this exercise for each of the 6 years I worked at Salesforce.

I use this framework to align my life & I even did this with my extended family of 20 because I started to realise we all had different definitions of our values, our vision, and how we measure success as a family. With young nieces, nephews and the next generation upon us, we used the V2MOM to reset and ensure we were all on the same page.

  • Vision: What do you want to achieve? 1 Year from now? 10 years?

  • Values: What are the core beliefs that are instrumental to you every single day?

  • Methods: How do you get it?

  • Obstacles: What’s preventing you from being successful?

  • Measures: How do you know when you have it? 

This ¨document¨ promotes: creativity, change, and empowerment. 

It’s also a way to ensure alignment while you scale. The V2MOMs should change throughout the years. As an organization grows, it is similar to a child-It lives, breaths & adapts and so to should the V2MOM. It’s not a static document that is looking for the right answer. It’s trying to identify flaws & misalignment and ensure course correction & prosperity to make sure everyone is beating to the same drum.

All dancers are dancing to the same song. All the players are playing the same game. All the puppies are…. OK you get my drift.

So why in the world is this important and why should you care? In an industry like Cannabis, markets are changing so rapidly there is a NEED for internal alignment on strategy or you’re not going to win in the long run, let alone the short term!

A Final note-I love this framework because it is also an incredible Sales discovery framework. To be a trusted advisor and a solutions, you must understand your prospects org chart, culture & strategy to be able to then tie all of the threads/ribbons/strings together.

CANNABIS COLLECTIVE SECOND ANNUAL RETREAT. SAUGERTIES NY

With 160+ open retailers in the NY State, countless innovative brands, and top-tier leaders, the NY market is accelerating quickly. Acceleration & activity often mean opportunity cost, burnout, and a consistent exercise determining who you can trust.

The retreat included:

  1. A Thursday night executive dinner which was purposely unstructured to get ideas flowing

Connections were created, relationships were forged, and trust was cemented. We battled the wind, the rain, and the unknown elements. We discussed a lot, including what you need to focus on over these next four months as a NY operator, how to be successful in your lane, and how to stay grounded.

More importantly, the executives who attended had a chance to look under the hood of their fellow execs and discover their way in hopes of one day being a resource.

I'm excited about the NY market for years to come... but don´t get it twisted. It will only get harder to win as the days go by. So find your tribe right now and qualify ruthlessly.
